Spells are spoken words that are thought to have magical power, or (the condition of being under) the influence or control of such words”.  To me it seems that all words are spells because of the effect they exert on us.  Words have a vibration, and that vibration directly affects the cells of our bodies.

We can see this effect through the work of Dr Masaru Emoto.  Emoto was a Japanese scientist who claimed that human consciousness directly affects the molecular structure of water.  In his experiments he labelled vials of distilled water with words like ‘love’, ‘appreciation’, ‘joy’, or ‘anger’, ‘hate’ and fear.  He then froze the vials and took photographs of the resulting ice crystals.  Exposed to positive words the crystals were fully formed, beautiful and symmetrical.  Exposed to negative words they were misshaped, ugly and in many cases did not even crystallise at all.   Since our bodies are made up of between 60-75% water we can see the impact words are having on us.

Since a spoken physical vibration is stronger than a mental thought vibration I have been experimenting with the power of actually speaking words out loud when I’m on my own. I’ve found it a really helpful way to focus my thoughts into more productive places when I’m feeling less than good.  Since it’s impossible to jump directly from feeling bad to feeling good I use Abraham’s emotional scale which lists the emotions in order from highest to lowest vibration.

Emotional Scale
1 . Joy | Appreciation | Empowerment | Freedom | Love
2 . Passion
3 . Enthusiasm | Eagerness | Happiness
4 . Positive Expectation | Belief
5 . Optimism
6 . Hopefulness
7 . Contentment
8 . Boredom
9 . Pessimism
10. Frustration | Irritation | Impatience
11. Overwhelment
12. Disappointment
13. Doubt
14. Worry
15. Blame
16. Discouragement
17. Anger
18. Revenge
19. Hatred | Rage
20. Jealousy
21. Insecurity | Guilt | Unworthiness
22. Fear | Grief | Depression | Despair | Powerlessness

Once I’ve identified where I am on the scale I then deliberately try and generate thoughts that are above that emotion.  So if I’m feeling irritated I’ll
look for thoughts of boredom.  Or if I’m feeling angry I’ll look for
thoughts of blame.  Any emotion that gives you a sense of relief means
you’re going the right way.  The relief is a kind of magic 🙂
